Our Purpose: To build the Body of Christ by growing mature disciples through: Prayer, Worship, Evangelism, Fellowship, Study, and Christian Service.
GYTTE►Our Easter Offering Supports the Henderson's:
Tabernacle supports Terry and Muriel Henderson, Methodist Missionaries to Mexico, through our annual Easter Offering. Our support is through a covenant relationship with them. Terry and Muriel administer the Give Ye Them To Eat program in rural southeastern Mexico. Give Ye Them To Eat (GYTTE -- pronounced "jitty") was founded in 1977 as a social outreach project of the Methodist Church of Mexico to combat hunger and poverty in the rural sector. The purpose of GYTTE is to strengthen the capabilities of marginalized people and communities to meet their basic needs, and to determine and sustain a just and integrated development process. Participatory methods and development tools are used to create conditions in which change can take place from within the communities. GYTTE uses people-centered approaches to development. Check out the GYTTE web site at www.gytte.org.
You may (1) use the envelope provided in Pastor Steve's Easter letter for your Easter offering or (2) use another envelope and designate "Easter Offering - Henderson's" and the "amount" on the outside of the envelope, or (3) contribute your Easter offering through e-giving. Thank you for your continued support of the Henderson's through our Easter Offering.
Mission Trips to Mexico:
Tabernacle members and friends have also learned first-hand about GYTTE through mission trips to Mexico to work hand in hand with the GYTTE staff and the local community at the Tree of Life Training Center near Tlancualpican, Mexico. In January 2013 a construction team traveled to the Tree of Life Training Center to work hand in hand with the GYTTE staff and learn more about the realities of life in rural Mexico. Photos of that mission trip are posted on the Tabernacle web site.
