Life learning changes our way of living. When we seek and find the wisdom God offers, we live and give better. Knowing more of Jesus Christ leads to a life that is a blessing to others. From managing money to understanding the Bible, life-learning programs can help you know God and learn His ways.
The Education Ministry is supported by the Christian Education committee which meets once a month with occasional special meetings when necessary. The mission of the committee is to address the spiritual needs of all age groups in the church and the community, to provide knowledge which enables and empowers people to continually grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Education provides the following activities:
- Sunday School Teachers: Teach/lead a class on Sunday mornings, 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM, using curriculum provided.
- Substitutes for regular teachers. This is normally scheduled in advance but can occasionally be on short notice.
Bible Studies - Teach/lead Advent or Lenten studies, short term, and long term studies throughout the year. Curriculum is provided, but leaders are encouraged to assist in the selection of the material. The study and curriculum will determine the length of the study. Most Bible studies run 4, 6, 8 weeks and meet weekly for 1 to 2 hours. Our long term studies are Disciple, Christian Believer, and Jesus in the Gospels. They run approximately 32 weeks and meet two hours weekly.
Vacation Bible School - Coordinate/oversee annual VBS program, select curriculum, recruit leaders, schedule planning sessions with volunteers, design schedule of station rotations, and other duties necessary to successfully execute the program. Planning for VBS usually begins in February. The VBS program is usually scheduled in June. It runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a closing event. The VBS Coordinator will work with the Director of Christian Education to plan and run this annual event.
